Mean Spirited is about taking paranormal investigation seriously enough to question how it is actually done—without taking ourselves too seriously in the process. We examine the devices, techniques, evidence, assumptions, and claims used by investigators, especially the point where an observation becomes an interpretation and an interpretation becomes a conclusion. Sometimes that means finding an ordinary explanation. Sometimes it means admitting that something remains unexplained. And sometimes it means pointing out that a claim is ridiculous and deserves to be mocked.
The goal is not to tell people what they should believe about the paranormal. It is to encourage better investigation through better controls, better reasoning, expert input, practical testing, and a willingness to say “I don’t know” when the evidence does not justify a stronger answer. Mean Spirited combines serious inquiry with sarcasm and humor to separate what happened from what people think happened.
